Visit to Ahlcon International School

Ahlcon International School is a private school with an international focus, in that they have exchange programmes with the UK and Germany. Because our Gondwana Dawn Project is also Human Rights related, and because this school has a particularly active Human Rights Club, it was appropriate that we should spend a morning there.

The reception was overwhelming. The principal is very proud of his beautiful school and the satff and learners alike welcomed us with warm smiles and perfect English.
We performed the traditional lighting of the lamp in the foyer before entering the boardroom where we were treated to presentations from the principal, head prefect and chairperson of the Human Rights Club.

A favourite time for our children was the interaction with the senior classes of the school. great fun was had by all during our performance and teaching them the Koloi Song ("Push Push").

While the children had some social time, Robin, Sumitra, Andreas and I were given a
guided tour of the school.

Art Class, equipped with potters wheel and kiln!

The tabla room - I have become a fan of this magnificent instrument!
 Classical dance class
Modern music class: here could join in the singing of "One hundred Miles", a song from my youth
This little boy ended up in the photo quite by accident; he had left his shoes behind and had come back to fetch them..
Tampuras in the classical music class

This is known as the toy room - where the little ones can play after school. These little ones were happy to share their artwork with me.
Keketso, our youngest member, celebrated her 14th birthday on this day; she was honoured with a beautfiul scarf at the school, and we followed that with a wonderful surprise party at the guest house.

We definitely all had a day to remember.
