Dilli Haat

Friday 14 October 2011
We set out, armed with Rupees and ready to shop till we dropped.

There was a security check at the gate which made us South Africans feel quite at home!

Dilli Haat is a huge shopping hub - many many stalls of hand-crafted goods of all kinds with stallholders all trying to sell their goods. Thank goodness we had Monica and Sonia who "negotiated' quite vociferously to obtain the best prices possible. It was fairly quiet so the children could enjoy the freedom of browsing around to their hearts' content without fear of being lost.

Lesego appealing for help- what to buy, what to buy?!

Monica and Sonia enjoying a well-earned traditional vegetarian Thali

Many of the craftsmen actually work right there. These beautiful boxes were so hard to resist; the stall did very well out of us.

A Chinese tourist gets a chance to join in the entertainment.

Satisfied shoppers waiting for the cab to take us to the next stop - Gandhi Museum

Thabiso shares Carol's tuc tuc to the museum; I was privileged enough to share it to Dilli Haat. What a different perspective on the traffic. Sunny, the driver, is quite the tour guide and ever so charming. I now have his number for "next time you come, you take me".
